Flights from Yogyakarta to Karimunjawa
The direct flights from Yogyakarta to Karimunjawa is just newly open on July 4th, 2025. Before it, you can only visit by combination of land and ferry transport.
You need to know this information before you decide to take a direct flight from Yogyakarta to Karimunjawa.
There are two airports in Yogyakarta City. The main airport is called Yogyakarta International Airport (YIA Airport), it is located 45 KM away from city centre. 90% of flights that come and go to Yogyakarta City will be in this airport.
The secondary airport is called Adi Sutjipto International Airport. It is smaller than YIA Airport. However, it is the first airport in Yogyakarta before YIA Airport existed and located only 10 KM from city centre.
You need to be careful, the flights from Yogyakarta to Karimunjawa will depart from Adi Sutjipto International Airport with the airport code (JOG) not from YIA Airport. Right now, Adi Sutjipto is being used only for private jet, military jet or small aircrafts. Due to the flights from Yogyakarta to Karimunjawa using a small aircraft that can accommodate only to 12 people, so the flights will depart from Adi Sutjipto International Airport. The name of the airport in Karimunjawa is Dewadaru with the code (KWB). It will take around 1 hour to fly from Yogyakarta to Karimunjawa.
Be careful, once you book a taxi, please do not forget to tell the taxi driver to go to Adi Sutjipto International Airport. Because in the drivers mind, if there is a booking to the airport, they will go directly to YIA Airport. Both airports are located in different direction from city centre. If you are in the wrong airport, you will need to take around 1,5 hours to reach the other one.
The only airline company that provides this service is Susi Air. They have only 3 flights a week. Flying every Monday, Friday and Sunday. The Aircraft type is Cessna Grand Caravan 208B with passenger capacity of 12 people. It will take around 1 hour to fly from Yogyakarta to Karimunjawa.
You could only have around 5 to 10 kgs luggage in this aircraft. It is better for you to take only the essential with you, and leave your other belonging in hotel or luggage storage at the airport.
Once you buy the departure tickets, please do not forget to buy the flight back tickets since the tickets are limited. Otherwise you will need to take a boat to be back to the mainland of Java.
You can book the flight from Traveloka Apps. I have checked some other online booking applications, and this flight is not available in any of them. So, make sure you check only with Traveloka Apps or official website of Susi Air to have more details about this flight.

Arrival in Karimunjawa Port
When you arrive at Karimunjawa Port, you’ll step into the island’s main gateway, usually at Karimunjawa Harbor (Pelabuhan Karimunjawa) in the town area. The atmosphere is lively but relaxed, with locals offering transport services such as motorbike taxis (ojek), becak, or pickup cars. Many hotels and homestays also provide pickup services, so it’s common to see drivers holding signs with guest names.
Just outside the port, you’ll find small warungs (food stalls), convenience shops, and rental services for motorbikes, which are the easiest way to get around the island. From there, most accommodations are only 5–15 minutes away by vehicle.
