Getting between the two is straightforward, with four reliable options: taking the bullet train, regular train, bus or shuttle. Each suits a different type of traveller, has a different budget, and has a different idea of what the journey itself should feel like.

Jakarta
Jakarta is Indonesia’s largest city and the country’s main economic, financial, and business center. Why Travel from Jakarta to Bandung?
The Jakarta–Bandung route is one of Indonesia’s most popular journeys. Travellers visit Bandung for its cooler weather, mountain scenery, food, shopping, and cultural attractions, while Jakarta serves as the main arrival point for international visitors. Thanks to modern transportation options—including the high-speed train, conventional trains, buses, and private vehicles—the journey between the two cities is easy and convenient.
Transportation Options from Jakarta to Bandung
There are several transportation options from Yogyakarta to Semarang City. I will let you know any possibilities. Hopefully you can choose which is the best one for you.

- Regular : KA Parahyangan, KA Papandayan, KA Pangandaran
- Bus
- Shuttle Service
Bullet TRAIN from Jakarta to Bandung by Whoosh
The fastest way to go from Jakarta to Bandung is by the bullet train. This bullet train is just newly build by Chinese Company on 2023. By Whoosh Train, we can go from Jakarta to Bandung only within 40 minutes.
However, before you jump to book the Whoosh Train, you have to consider several things :
- The Whoosh Train from Jakarta to Bandung will start from Halim Stasiun Whoosh Jakarta, It is located in the Southern Part of Jakarta. If your accommodation is located in the city centre, it will be a hustle to go from the central part of Jakarta to the starting point of Whoosh Train. You can go from any part of Jakarta by a local train or online taxi. However it can take more than 1 hour just to get to the Whoosh Train Station, it can be longer than the main journey it self.
- The Whoosh Train will not stop at the main Station of Bandung (city centre), Whoosh will stop at Padalarang Station or Tegalluar Station. You need to go with another feeder train from Padalarang Station. The feeder train will take another 20 minutes. So in total you will need around 1 hour from Halim Whoosh Station Jakarta to Bandung Station, it is not including with the waiting time after you stop from Whoosh Station to get the feeder train to Bandung Station.
Before you make a decision to go from Jakarta to Bandung please consider where is your starting point in Jakarta and where is your final destination in Bandung. If you are okay with all the pros and cons, you can book the Whoosh Ticket from their official webiste.
Whoosh Ticket Price
Whoosh is classified into 3 different classes. Here the price for each class :
1. First Class : IDR 600.000
2. Business Class : IDR 450.000
3. Premium Economy Class : IDR 300.000
Do not stop at the Tegalluar Station (final station for Whoosh), you could just stop at Padalarang Train Station then continue the trip by feeder train to Bandung Station.

Regular Train from Jakarta to Bandung
If my accommodation is located in the city centre of Jakarta, i would definetely choosing the regular train instead of Whoosh. The regular train is started from Gambir Station (GMR) and can stop directly to Bandung Central Station (BD). The regular train will take around 3 hours. It is much longer than taking Whoosh, but the departure point and the arrival point is closer to the city centre.
Despite of the longer train journey, the regular train also provides a panoramic class train. This is a train with full of glass as the wall and the roof. You will have a beautiful mountainous view along the way from Jakarta to Bandung.
There are a lot of options for the regular train from Jakarta Gambir Station (GMR) to Bandung Station (BD). But i will mention this 3 best option :
- KA Parahyangan
- KA Papandayan
- KA Pangandaran
There are 4 different classe for train from Jakarta to Bandung. There are Economy Class, Executive Class, Luxury Class and Panoramic Class.
Personally as Indonesian, i will never go with the Economy Class, I will start at least with the Executive Class.
Here is the prices for each classes :
- Economy Class : Start from IDR 100.000
- Executive Class : Start from IDR 150.000 to IDR 200.000
- Luxury Class : Start from IDR 400.000
- Panoramic Class : Start from IDR 450.000
If you really interested to see the Javanese Nature along the railway, you can go with the Panoramic Class. To book the ticket, you can go directly to the train station or book it from Traveloka Apps or KAI Access Apps. As Indonesian, i do prefer using Traveloka Apps, it is like an apps for all. We can book flights, hotels, trains, buses or attraction tickets all around Indonesia and South East Asia. To be able to book from the apps, you should change the currency in the apps into Indonesian Rupiah (IDR). And KAI Access Apps is actually the official apps for Indonesian Train Company, but we can only book the train tickets, and no other.

Bus from Jakarta to Bandung
Among all, going from Jakarta to Bandung by bus will be my least option. Bus can be faster than regular train since it will pass the toll road. However, sometimes in Indonesia, even toll road can be unpredictable.
But, i still need to mention it so you will have some travel option to go from Jakarta to Bandung.
The main bus terminal in Jakarta is Pulo Gebang Terminal, it is located in East Part of Jakarta. It is not necessary to book the ticket in advance, you can go to the terminal and ask the information centre which kiosk selling ticket to Bandung.
There are some other bus terminals closer to the city centre. However, for the safety matter, I only recommend you to go to the main terminal, Pulo Gebang. The bus ticket will vary from IDR 100.000 to IDR 200.0000. To get to the bus terminal, you can go by online taxi like Gojek or Grab. The journey by bus will take around 2 hours passing the toll road.
Jakarta to Bandung by Shuttle Service
Going from Jakarta to Bandung by shuttle can be my favourite one. It has a lot of shuttle company option and also has a lot of departure points. You can also start from Soekarno Hatta Airport directly to Bandung and you can skip visiting Jakarta City centre if you have a limited time.
To book the shuttle service, you can also use Traveloka Apps. Do not forget to change the currency to Indonesian Rupiah (IDR) in order to book the shuttle or train service. In other currencies, the apps only show flight and hotel booking service.
Among all the shuttle service, I will select only 2 best company according to my opinion. Those both options are Day Trans Shuttle or Cititrans Shuttle. Why I like to book from those company is because it has a bigger network in Java Island. Both companies are available in many major cities in Java Island, so it is quite reliable.
